Deadpool & Wolverine was an absolute blast for me. It is something I have been longing for from Marvel for a very long time. In this action-packed, comedic superhero film, Deadpool, known for his irreverent humor and fourth-wall-breaking antics, teams up with the brooding and fierce Wolverine. The plot revolves around their unlikely partnership as they embark on a mission to thwart a new threat to mutantkind. Along the way, their clashing personalities lead to hilarious and intense moments, blending action, humor, and character development.
I enjoyed this movie as much as the likes of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: No Way Home. While it may not have reached their peak, it offered a great time. This movie pushed the limits just as the first two Deadpool movies did, and even further during some portions. Seeing the different variants and all the other Earths within the Multiverse was fascinating.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman kept a smile on my face for the entire two hours, and this movie didn’t need to be perfect. It came close, though my most significant gripe was the whole TVA direction that Marvel is going in because, honestly, it feels like a cop-out. This can happen, that can happen, and it doesn’t even matter because time isn’t actually linear and at any point can be changed.
The comedy was fantastic, the fight scenes were well thought out, and the references were spot on. Most importantly, the cameos were exceptionally well done in this film, and I truly felt like the Marvel universe finally brought everything together—something that has been missing for the last 20 years of film. As Deadpool and Wolverine face off against formidable villains and confront their own pasts, the film explores themes of redemption, friendship, and the complexities of being a hero.
I needed this movie; I loved it the first time I saw it, even though I didn’t think the villain was anything crazy and there was more to be desired for the story itself. I will be seeing this movie multiple more times while it is still in theaters, and I hope it only gets better for me. I give “Deadpool & Wolverine” a 9/10. If you can, see this movie in a deluxe theater, as being around other audience members brings an extra layer of enjoyment for all. Also, it is a Deadpool movie, so if you are easily offended, maybe don’t go see it.
