Longlegs: A Tangled Web of Disappointment

To those considering watching Longlegs, I advise you not to spend money on it. However, if you do watch it, I’d be curious to hear your thoughts. This is one film I am glad to never write about again.

Longlegs, directed by Osgood Perkins, is a film that follows an investigator entangled in a series of gruesome murders linked to a supernatural entity known as Longlegs. The film attempts to blur the lines between reality and the paranormal as the protagonist delves deeper into the investigation.

If you loved this movie, I am truly happy for you and the enjoyment you derived from it. However, I must confess that Longlegs was not for me. My anticipation for a twist similar to what Barbarian delivered was met with disappointment. Instead, what unfolded on screen caused my frustration levels to soar. The portrayal of the FBI as a rogue organization lacking procedures and discipline was incredibly unrealistic—a major sticking point for me. Characters recklessly ventured into dangerous situations alone, despite the presence of a mass murderer.

While some may appreciate the artistic flair of the film—the camera work and unique shot compositions—the narrative itself was a chaotic mess. Events occurred without explanation, leaving me feeling cheated of my time. I deeply disliked this movie and give it a rating of 2 out of 10. The ending, in particular, was infuriating enough to make me want to scream.

Nic Cage, I apologize, but this movie was a miss for me. To those considering watching Longlegs, I advise you not to spend money on it. However, if you do watch it, I’d be curious to hear your thoughts. This is one film I am glad to never write about again.

2/10
